Theresa (Cannata) Dolce, 94, of Hackettstown, New Jersey, passed away on October 9, 2022, at the Forest Manor Health Care Center in Blairstown, New Jersey. For 70 years, she was the beloved wife of Anthony (Tony) Dolce, who was her childhood sweetheart in their hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. Tony currently resides at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown.
Theresa leaves three daughters: Anne Dolce of Arlington, Massachusetts, Marie Dolce of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Laura Jordan and spouse Thomas Jordan of Andover, Massachusetts, and two grandchildren: Haley and spouse Michael Brandon of Wakefield, Massachusetts, and Marianna and spouse Justin Campbell of Chicago, Illinois, and one great grandchild, Lyla Brandon.
Theresa spent her married life in Newark, Ohio and Wallingford, Pennsylvania before moving to Hackettstown in 1976.
Theresa will be dearly remembered as a devoted wife and mother. Her faith was very important to her throughout her life. She had boundless energy and worked tirelessly on behalf of her family. She was selfless and unassuming. She enjoyed maintaining her home and loved to whistle while she worked. She enjoyed yard work and could often be found outdoors in any season, whether mowing the lawn or using her snowblower. In her later years, she enjoyed going to gym and was proud to say she “worked out” until she was 90 years old. While earning her nursing degree later in life, she was voted “Miss Congeniality.” She also worked in the retail industry.
Theresa came from humble beginnings. She was second generation of Sicilian parents, Agostino and Celestina (Bova) Cannata, and was the 2nd youngest of nine siblings: the late Frances Cusano, Mary Fera, Josephine Petrucci, Rose Troia, Michelina Calise, Anna Russo, and Anthony, Rocco and Natale Cannata.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A mass will be held at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Andover, NJ at 11:30 am on Friday, October 14, 2022 and following the mass the interment will be held at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Andover, NJ.
