Drake, Eleanor October 17, 1936 - February 9, 2021

Eleanor Drake, 84, of Long Valley, New Jersey passed away on February 9th, 2021. She was born to Hannah and Emmett Pittenger and was happily married to Jacob Drake for 65 years.

Many years ago, Eleanor worked as a seamstress and later spent much of her life raising her family and helping her husband take care of local grounds. She always had a knack for knowing what needed to be done, and for doing it with a smile on her face.

Eleanor and Jake raised four vibrant daughters- Jackie, Karen, Lisa, and Melissa in their cozy home in Long Valley. She raised them to work hard and do right by others. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren who loved playing together in her home or helping her and Jake with projects.

Everyone Ellie met could see the kindness she radiated, and she never spoke poorly about anyone. Her laughter was contagious and spread throughout the room. She was an incredibly tough and independent woman, always composed and displaying grace. She loved going to concerts with her sisters, taking care of her garden, and the occasional trip to the casino.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Jake, sister Betty, four daughters, and grandchildren. A service in her honor will be held in the spring, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Long Valley First Aid Department.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We are so thankful for the relationship Ellie and our Mom had and the chance for the rest of us to get to know her at least a bit, especially when she would accompany you, Jake, on your trips up the mountain. You and your daughters will be in our prayers.
Love from Chris Palmer and family
