Bonnie Jean Elston, 69, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 20, 2026.
She was born in Morristown to the late Dale and Shirley (Benward) Young. Bonnie graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1975 and Morris County College in 1977. While at college she met and married the love of her life, the late Donald Elston.
Bonnie had various jobs which included substitute teaching for the Hackettstown School District. Later she worked as a medical receptionist for local doctors. Bonnie liked playing and watching sports. She played field hockey in high school and recreational softball during the summers. In later years she started playing golf. She and Don spent many weekends playing at the former Minebrook Golf Club. Bonnie enjoyed watching college football, especially the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Bonnie enjoyed hosting family and friends for holidays and other celebrations. The Elston family spent summers at Chadwick Island, NJ. Bonnie’s love of the beach and coastal areas inspired her to move to Rehoboth Beach, DE in 2017. She enjoyed golfing and visiting with neighbors.
Bonnie is survived by her sons David (Christa) Elston and Edward Elston, bonus daughter and son, Sarah Wojcicki Rubano and John Mark (Cameron) Wojicki. Sister, Robin Everingham, Sister-in-Law, Sandy Young, Aunt Donna Lamonaco, Brother-in-law, Gil (Sherry) Elston, niece, Joana (Charles) Baird, nephew, Chris (Megan) Elston and many cousins and friends.
Bonnie is preceded in death by brother, Danny Young, aunt, Jean Feller and uncles, Warren Feller and Ted Benward.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840 with a visitation 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and services at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 4, 2026, followed by a graveside service at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
