Flynn, Annamarie July 5, 1932 - December 23, 2024

Date of Funeral

January 4, 2025

Annamarie Flynn (née Wolter) of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1932, in Flemington, NJ to Willie E. and Erna (Rohwer) Wolter. Growing up in Huntington Station, Long Island, NY, she discovered a passion for clothing and design, attending the McDowell School of Designing and Dressmaking in New York City. She began her career on Fifth Avenue specializing in children’s clothing. After settling in Hackettstown, NJ in 1960, her focus shifted to ladies’ formalwear, where her talent and creativity were on full display. Spring and summers in her home were filled with the excitement of prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and wedding dresses, with each detail carefully crafted with pride by Annamarie.

She met Roland Flynn, the man who would become her husband, on a blind date in 1953. They married on January 30, 1954, sharing seven decades together. Her devotion to Roland and to those she loved was unparalleled and spanned generations – her siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends knew her kindness, wisdom, and steady support. Annamarie leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity.

She is survived by her husband Roland and their children Stephen (predeceased by Santina) Flynn, Kathleen (Robert) Pyne, and Karen (Fred) Curry; her brothers Willy (Marilyn “Mello”) Wolter and Karl (Dianne) Wolter; her eight grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; a niece, seven nephews as well as a host of extended family and dear friends. Her strong will, her kindness beyond her years, and artistry will live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.

A service to celebrate Annamarie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Cochran Funeral Home at 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 (908-852-3361).

Visitation hours are from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Service will be held from 7:30 to 8:00 PM.
