George Ford, age 84, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. George was born January 3, 1939 in Meshoppen, PA to the late Lester and Helen (Matusavige) Ford. In addition to his parents George is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Hilda (Struble) Whritenour, his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Danny Douma, and his daughter-in- law, Diane.
He owned and operated George E. Ford Construction, Lexington, SC for many years before his retirement. George was a talented Stone Mason, he enjoyed doing leather work, and loved hunting and fishing. In addition he loved watching old westerns and cartoons. He had a recent addiction to the Food Network.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years Jean (Whritenour) Ford, his two daughters, Dawn Barbera and husband Victor, Sandy Morse and husband Billy, a son, George Ford, Jr., a sister, Kathy Jackson, six grandchildren, Sarah, Danielle, Amanda, Natasha, Nadine, Merissa, and one great grandson, Aiden.
All services were private at the request of the family.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, Hackettstown, NJ.
