Antonio Fratangelo
Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandpa
Antonio Fratangelo, a man of profound devotion and infectious laughter, passed away leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. A true family man, Antonio’s journey began in Taranta Peligna, Italy. In his youth, he was a spirited athlete, guarding the net as a soccer goalie for his local town—a passion that preceded his life-changing voyage to the United States.
A Journey of Love and Hard Work
At just 17 years old, Antonio braved the Atlantic via ship alongside his mother and siblings. Settling in Netcong, New Jersey, he began working at Dover Handbag, where fate led him to the love of his life, Eileen Olenick. Their connection was instantaneous; they met in 1972 and were wed on November 12, 1977.
Over the course of a beautiful 54-year love story, Antonio and Eileen built a life centered on faith and family. Together, they raised two daughters, Lisa and Diana, filling their home with the aromas of traditional pasta dishes, tons of coffee and the echoes of constant laughter.
The Heart of the Home
Antonio was a man of simple, vibrant pleasures. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his family, a cup of espresso or coffee in hand, perhaps planning his next trip to the casino. He found purpose in the rhythm of daily life, staying busy around the house and keeping a watchful, loving eye over his grandchildren, who he often credited with keeping him young at heart.
He possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling, frequently reminiscing about times gone by during family gatherings. Antonio remained a pillar of strength for his household, and his family remained steadfastly by his side until the very end.
