Mark R. Freericks, family man passed away Saturday August 16, 2025, in Newton New Jersey.  He was 63.

Mark was born on September 22, 1961, in Queens, New York.  He moved to New Jersey with his family from Long Island to New Jersey when he was a young teen. And resided in Byram New Jersey with his family till his passing.

Mark was a very proud father of his 2 children and with everything they did.  He was his daughter’s #1 fan when it came to her dreams and career.  Bonding over movies and TV shows, it was their favorite thing growing up and you would often find his daughter, Sara, sound asleep on his chest as a baby watching Star Trek.  He adored teaching and working on cars and trucks with his son, Ian, especially on trucks and Jeeps. One of Mark’s favorite things was his son Ian was teaching him how to fly fish and how to tie the lurers.  Taking pride in his some for making them.  He absolutely loved his son and daughter, creating amazing memories with them both.  Mark was a wonderful dad and so very caring and loving to Sara and Ian.

Mark was also blessed by having 2 sisters, Kris Jackson of Wisconsin and her partner John.  His sister Allison Diamond and her husband Andy.  He also had his nephews and nieces, Ashley, Ben, Matt and Racheal.  And was also blessed to have a great niece and nephew, Haper and Kley.

    Dear Cathy, Sara, and Ian,

I’m so sad to hear of Mark’s passing. I was fortunate to work with him for 12 years, and I’ll always remember his humor and kindness. One of my favorite memories was when we took a trip we took to visit some newly acquired sites in California that were off the beaten path. Now that I live in CA, whenever I pass by those towns, I always think about him and the craziness of that trip.

    Please accept my heartfelt condolences,
    -Jeff Singer

I was so so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Mark’s family and friends. Mark was such a great guy. Loved chatting with him at his cubicle. He always shared the great things his kids were doing. It was great to see him again when he came back to Covanta. He most definitely will be missed.
