Gelatka, Francis A. January 26, 1933 - February 26, 2021

Francis A. Gelatka “Frank”, age 88, of Budd Lake, NJ died Friday, February 26, 2021 at Heath Village, Hackettstown, NJ.  Francis was born January 26, 1933 in Pittston, PA to the late John and the late Mary (Faltin) Gelatka.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary Lucas, Elizabeth D’Auria, Irene Loguidice, his two brothers, Edward and William Gelatka.

Upon graduating high school Frank joined the US Air Force serving proudly during the Korean War as an Airplane Mechanic.  He was previously employed by Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals, Morris Plains, NJ as a Setup Mechanic for many years before retiring, in addition he worked for PF Labs.  Frank enjoyed building and flying Radio Control Airplanes and a good cup of coffee.  He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving son, Francis “Frank” Gelatka and wife Liesl, two cherished grandchildren, Staci and Kyle Gelatka, a step-daughter, Terry Bernard and her husband Joe and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 12 noon – 2 pm the memorial service will begin at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 500 International Drive – Unit 333, Budd Lake, NJ 07828 in memory of Frank.

    Frank and I shared a love of Warbirds and he knew a lot about them. We went on some weekend trips and watched radio control warbirds all day long. Frank was always there to help people new to radio control. Consider yourself lucky that you were able to hang with your father as a friend at the field. I know I do.
