George W. Dorman, age 88, of Hackettstown, formerly of Passiac, NJ died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ. George was born November 5, 1932 in Carlstadt, NJ to the late William and Alice (McCoy) Dorman. In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” Dorman.
He served proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. He formerly employed by Hoffman LaRoche, Nutley, NJ as a Chemist for many years. George loved to ride his Honda Gold Wing, taking many motorcycle trips all over the county, in addition he was a skilled woodworker, who enjoyed making many items for his family. Most of all George was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Yvonne (Tursiella) Dorman, his daughter, Kim Smith and husband John, his son, George Dorman, Jr. and wife Jeanette, a brother, John “Jack” Dorman and wife Sandra, five grandchildren, Ashley Clayton and husband Tim, Meghan and Alyssa Smith, Emily and Sophie Dorman, 4 great grandchildren, David Talley, Gianna, Timothy and Meadow Clayton, 2 nephews, Justin and Chris Dorman, and several additional nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father Antony Arockidoss officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown following services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 22 from 10 am – 1 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 in memory of George.
