Jim Allen was a great mentor to me on his farm where he taught me all about farming, tractors and lumbering etc. He was very kind to me over the years and paid me well to help him on weekends. He also introduced me to snowmobiling which was nice around his farm. He was very selfless and loved his golden retrievers – Goldie was one of my favorites. Prayers for your family. You will be missed. Sincerely, Harry Booth

Please accept my deepest sympathy. Bud was my landlord for over 13 years, back in the 1970s and early 1980s. He loved his farm and his dogs. He was very kind and considerate. I also remember his mother Martha who passed in 1977. A gentle lady. For years, always got my Christmas tree from Bud. Regards to niece Terrie and nephew Tom. Rest In Peace Bud.

Dear Terrie, Tom and Family. I was so saddened and shocked to hear that cousin Buddy had passed. My brothers and I can remember coming to the farm as early as the ’60s and walking through the fields and the barns with Buddy, my father and grandfather, Harold Swenson. Afterwards, Martha Allen always had her famous iced tea to cool us down. After three months of lockdown I finally was able to visit with my father today. I told him about his cousin Jim’s passing, and he was greatly saddened. Although dad is the youngest of that generation at 87, he clearly remembers the joy of hiking the fields, fishing, haying, etc. when they were both young boys. I have also lost my favorite family genealogist. Buddy will be sorely missed by all of us in the Swenson family. God bless you all and may Buddy rest in peace.

Jim’s devotion to his church was inspiring to us all at Gethsemane. Recently, he bought new choir robes for our adult choir, and we were so grateful. It was just one of his many generous gifts to enhance our worship and show his love of our Lord.

Jim. To live a life as long and full as you did, and still doing it, this is just not fair. You will be sadly missed by everyone that knew you. I am so very sorry. Ken

“Buddy” Allen. His nickname said it all! He was my buddie when I lived right across the street from his huge apple orchard. He was my Scout Master. He taught me how to drive his tractor (I was around 11). The tractor had steel wheels and triangular shaped teeth on the wheels. It was fuf knocking out triangles of dried mud that got caught there. On weekends I would help him sell his apples out on Route 57, right across from where we held our meetings. He truly was my buddie. I only found out today that he passed away because I tried to call him. If any of my old scouting friends see this, it would be great to hear from you.
