It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer “Jennie” O’Dell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and cherished member of her family. A resident of Vienna, NJ, Jennie passed away on August 10, 2026 at Hackensack University Medical Center. She was born to Genevieve and Bruce Sliker on April 10, 1963 in Somerville, NJ.
She was a woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and found her happiness in the moments shared with the people she loved most. Her family was her world and there was nothing she cherished more than seeing her children and grandchildren happy, together, and surrounded by love.
Jennie is survived by her husband, John “Buck” O’Dell; her daughters, Jenevieve O’Dell and Jenine O’Dell (spouse Andrew Spino); and her grandchildren Alanna and Garrett O’Dell. She is also survived by her siblings – Brent Sliker and Jeanette Sliker.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Genevieve Sliker (Milligan).
A State FFA officer and the State FFA Sweetheart, Jennie was a 48 year member of Mt. Lebanon Grange and the Hunterdon County Pomona Grange. She was the Hunterdon County Dairy Princess and a runner up for the NJ State Grange Princess.
Jennie was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, having held the role of President as well.
As a mother, Jennie dedicated much of her adult life to the enrichment of her children, holding volunteer positions such as Girl Scout Troop leader, Booster Club President, and various other roles for both of her daughters. She gave her family strength, guidance, and unconditional love. As a grandmother, she created memories that will be carried in the hearts of her grandchildren forever. Her love, laughter, wisdom, and presence brought something special to every family gathering, and her absence will be felt in ways words cannot express.
Though she is no longer with us, her greatest gift remains the family she loved so fiercely. Her love lives on through her children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4-8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home at 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Califon Firehouse from noon-3 pm at 41 Main Street, Califon, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jennie’s name to The John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) at 92 Prospect Ave in Hackensack, NJ. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home; those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at cochranfuneral.com
She will be missed beyond words, remembered with endless love, and carried in the hearts of her family forever.
