John W. Hansler, 66, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2020 at his home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born December 1, 1953 in Newton, New Jersey, son of Willard Hansler and Betty Stephens.
John grew up in Hackettstown, NJ where he was a proud member of the 8-5 class. He attended Hackettstown High School where he enjoyed athletics and met the love of his life, and future wife, Kathy. John and Kathy enjoyed 45 years of marriage.
John was a relentless worker, balancing work, coaching youth sports, family time, and keeping his home and property in tip top shape. John retired from Hoffmann-La Roche after over 40 years of dedicated service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, and sports but most importantly, being the best husband, father, “Boppy”, (grandfather) and friend that anyone could ask for. Those who knew him closely, knew that John cared more about others than he did about himself.
John is survived by his wife Kathy, mother, Betty Stephens, mother in-law, Helen Staugaard, son John, Jr., daughter, Meredith and her husband, Michael Jiorle, grandson, Cael Jiorle, brother, James Hansler, sister, Bonnie Hagenbuch, and many nieces and nephews.
