Wallace W. “Chip” Kagan, age 73, of East Stroudsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.
Born on March 8, 1952, in Morristown, NJ, Chip was the son of the late Wallace J. and Anne (Davis) Kagan.
Chip dedicated many years of his career to Verizon, where he worked as a Technician until his retirement. He was known for his steady work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in his craft. In addition to working at Verizon, Chip worked in Real Estate in Tuckerton, NJ and also in Stroudsburg, PA. He also owned a home remodeling business in the Tuckerton, NJ area where his expertise was everything involved with remodeling. Chip also loved classical music, songs from the 40’s, old movies with his favorite being those of the cowboy genre. Ask Chip anything as his knowledge was varied and extensive.
Chip is survived by his devoted wife, Janet (Bussler) Kagan; his step‑sons, Sean Conroy and wife Lori, and Kevin Conroy and wife Melissa; his brother, Richard Kagan and partner Mike; and his sister, Maryanne Kagan. He was a beloved grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Matthew, Nicole, Daniel, Patrick, Alexander, Rebecca, Benjamin, Maire, Kathleen, Thomas, John, and Sarah. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow privately at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306, in memory of Chip.
