Kilmurray, William J August 4, 1934 - March 26, 2022

William J. Kilmurray, 87 of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Born in Newark, NJ on August 4, 1934, William was the son of the late William & Janette Kilmurray.

William proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1960. He was formerly employed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation as a Regional Supervisor for 48 years and retired at the age of 65. William was very proud of his Irish heritage and was a member of the Pocono Irish American Club having served as the Grand Marshall of the East Stroudsburg, Pa St. Patrick’s Day Parade several years ago.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen “Anne” Keller Kilmurray at home. Two sons, Bill and his wife Karen Kilmurray and Kevin Kilmurray. One daughter, Peggy and her husband Robert. Lastly, he is survived by three loving grandchildren; Robbie, Rachel & Keely.

A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Memorial services will follow at 5:00pm. Private burial will take place at the Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.

    After my father passed Mr. Kilmurray became a sort of new father. We shared a love of history and, especially , Ireland. One of the greatest I have known in my life. He will be missed. My continued prayers to Ann, Bill, Karen, and the entire family.

    I recently found out about Mr. “K” death, I worked with him at NJDOT, he was a super boss and a wonderful person. My sincere sympathy to Ann and the children. Fly high Mr. “K” now you can see Ireland at a special view from heaven. May your memory be a blessing.
