Kirkwood, Alan R. June 18, 1953 - December 1, 2024

Alan R. Kirkwood, 71 of Frelinghuysen Twp. passed away on December 1, 2024. Born in New York City on June 18, 1953, he was the son of the late Robert H & Lorraine Williams Kirkwood. Alan has lived in Frelinghuysen Twp. since 2019 coming from Hackettsown, NJ.

Alan retired in 2004 from the Hackettstown Police Department as a Sergeant after 23 years of service to the department. Since his retirement he has enjoyed countless hours working on his property and enjoying outdoor activities. Alan and his beloved wife Ann could always be found outside playing with their dogs.

Alan is survived by his wife Ann Mastroplo Kirkwood; Brother Robert A. Kirkwood of Sanford, Fla and one sister Donna Andersen of Washington State.

    Al, you were one of the great ones. If you were on duty and someone needed a back up, you would respond without hesitation, no matter which area Department needed assistance. I will always remember our night shift talks. Until we meet again my friend.

    Al, you were one of the first Hackettstown Officers I met. It seems like yesterday but it was in 1979. Never had to ask for help, you were in route no matter what PD requested help. Sad that my brothers are passing. I’ll see you later. Rest, you deserve it.
