Kovatch, Carol Ann June 18, 1946 - November 20, 2021

Carol Ann Kovatch, age 75, of Lake Tranquility, NJ, died November 20 at home.

Born on June 18, 1946 to the late Herbert and Constance (Silvestri) Force, Carol Ann grew up in Jersey City, NJ and attended Holy Rosary Academy in Union City, NJ.

When she was 17, Carol Ann and her family moved to Clifton, NJ, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Larry.  She used to love to tell the story of how they met. Her younger brother James was friends with the Kovatch boys, who lived a couple of houses up the street. Their older cousin Larry used to visit often when he was on leave from the Army and would take his cousins and James fishing and bowling. James would always come home and tell his older sister that she just had to meet Larry. As my father then liked to tease, my mother suddenly got interested in walking the family dog whenever she saw Larry sitting outside. He always said that dog never got walked so much.

They married in 1966 and lived in Hasbrouck Heights and then Clifton for a few years before moving to Lake Tranquility in 1973, where they settled and raised their two children. They had almost 50 years there filled with wonderful memories and numerous friends.

Carol Ann was an excellent host and cook, who loved nothing more than to celebrate the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she would bake countless different cookies and decorate for days. For more than 40 years she hosted an elaborate Christmas brunch for family and friends, and would then turn around and cook a formal Christmas dinner later in the day for additional family. Somehow, she always made it look easy. Her eggplant parmesan and apple pies were phenomenal.

Carol Ann always loved an adventure.  She loved to travel and would always be “in” wherever anyone was going. Some of her favorite things were the beach, reading, decorating, Hallmark movies, and enjoying her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, son Larry and his wife Tomoe; daughter Debra and her wife Tara; grandchildren Leo, Alex, and Riley; dear sister Gail and her husband Bob, and brother, James and his wife Shirley.  She will be also missed by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from5:00 – 7:00pm, Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Andover, NJ for those attending please meet at the church.
