Linda M. DeJonge – Tynan December 14, 1956 - August 14, 2020

Linda M. DeJonge-Tynan, age 63, of Spring Hill, Fl formerly of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully with her husband by her side Friday, August 14, 2020 under the care of Haven Hospice at Shands BMT Unit Hospital, Gainsville, FL

Linda was born December 12, 1956 in Newark, NJ to the late Richard “Dick” and Virginia “Ginger” (Hortwick) DeJonge. Upon her birth Linda was taken home to Bellville, NJ to meet her brother, Richard “Ricky” (now deceased).

In 1964 the family moved to Hackettstown, NJ. Linda graduated from Hackettstown High School class of 1974 and Dover Business College 1975. After graduation she worked as a legal secretary at Allied Chemical Corp. until 1979. Upon leaving she went to work in the family business Metro Hotsy Inc. Linda was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Hackettstown, NJ. In 1983 she moved to Florida where she worked for a private law firm until 1988. She then went to work at Southwest Water Management District as a legal secretary, retiring in July 2016 after 28 years and where she made lifelong friends.

Linda loved warm air and sunshine, she enjoyed watching nature especially the birds and squirrels on the feeder. In addition, she enjoyed going to Greenville, Maine to see the moose, loved to hear the water trickling from the fountains and the wind chimes billowing through the air which she loved so much she requested one be placed on her grave.

Survived by her husband, Jefferey Tynan, a step-son Christopher J. Tynan and his partner Dajiah Patterson, step-grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa Tynan of Maine, mother-in-law Elizabeth Tynan, brothers-in-law, Al, Mike and wife Kay, Dave, Pete and wife Debbie and many nieces and nephews all of Hackettstown, NJ, sister-in-law Karen DeJonge, two nieces, Katie and Jenny DeJonge of Bangor, PA and numerous cousins from NY, MA, FL and MS.

We would like to thank all the doctors, PAs’, Nurses and PCAs’ of the BMT Unit at Shands Cancer Hospital, Gainsville, FL for all the love, compassion, and kindness that Linda received from all.

Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 9 am – 11 am. Services will begin at 11 am also at the funeral home.
Burial will be held following services at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.

In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your favorite animal rescue or to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Linda.

    Jeff and extended ;our hearts are saddened by the news of Linda’s passing. She fought the fight in a courageous and inspirational way and will missed tremendously by many.
