Margaret P. Strunk, age 83 of Washington, NJ passed away on July 8, 2020 in Bethlehem, PA. Margret was born in Washington, NJ on May 26, 1937 to the late Lewis and Rachael (Weaver) Knecht and adopted and raised by Henry P. and Josephine A. (Rodziewicz) Topoleski in Great Meadows, NJ.
Growing up Margaret had belonged to the Choir, Sodality and a Sunday School Teacher at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Great Meadows, NJ. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washington and Summerfield. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #36, the Pioneers, a 4-H Leader and Girl Scout Leader as well as Girl Scout Troop Organizer for many years. She graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1955 and was the Secretary for the Class. She was also class mother for all three of her girls throughout their grade school years.
She retired from Verizon Phone Company in 1997.
She married the love of her life, Benjamin, on April 22, 1960 and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin D. Strunk, three daughters, Bonnie (Joseph) Schwind of Washington, NJ, Lisa Yerance of Washington NJ, and Lynne (John) Cox of Bangor, PA, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 2 brothers. She was known as Mom to all of her girl’s friends and Nan to all of her grandchildren’s friends. She is predeceased by her parents, five brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may made to American Diabetes Association, New Jersey – Memorial Processing Center, 1160 US Highway 22 Ste. 103, Bridgewater, NJ. 08807 or an Animal Rescue of Choice in memory of Margaret.
