Margot “Tula” Anita Palmore Demaree July 20, 1920 - July 1, 2020

Margot “Tula” Anita Palmore Demaree (née Iversen)
Born: Staten Island, NY July 20, 1920
Died: Newton, NJ July 1, 2020

Beloved and dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend peacefully passed away on July 1, 2020 in Newton, NJ. Her final days were in hospice at United Methodists Communities at Bristol Glen.

Margot “Tula” Demaree was born and grew up in Staten Island, NY. She met Jasper “Jack” Palmore and the two married in 1944. Tula and Jack moved to Seattle, WA and then settled in New Jersey where they raised their two children, Peter and Pamela.

Over the years, Tula and Jack also lived in St. Louis, MO and moved back to NJ before moving to their winter home in Florida full time in the early 1990s. The two had a passion for traveling, and traveled to many European countries together. They ultimately moved to Sun City Center, FL. Jack passed in 1993. Tula stayed In FL and remarried to Arthur Demaree in 2004. They had 8 years together. Tula moved back to NJ to be with her son, granddaughters, and great granddaughter in 2018.

She was always known by others to be funny and honest, and a hostess second to none. She was always available to anyone that needed her and made lifelong friends everywhere she went. She always loved to dance, cook, sew, tat, crochet, knit, play cards, and play golf, including participating and winning awards in several golf tournaments. Her loved ones were all given beautiful handmade hats, scarves, blankets, and flowers.

Later in life, her favorite times were spent solving puzzles and playing games with her friends and family, while continuing to knit for family and friends, as well as knitting preemies hats and sewing pillow cases to donate to babies and children. She loved imparting her wisdom on keeping a healthy and happy home, and most of all loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Peter; her grandchildren, Kara, Jacqueline, and Haley; and her great-grandchildren Tula and Marlena.

She is smiling down on us with her husband Jack, and her daughter Pamela.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest making a donation in memory of Margot P. Demaree to Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services in NYC at the following link: https://shelteringarmsny.org/donate/

A memorial service will be held at United Methodists Communities at Bristol Glen on August 1, 2020.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
