Robert Emmett Mc Devitt, age 85, of Hackettstown died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Bridgeway Care and Rehab Center at Hillsborough. Robert was born August 6, 1936 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late John and Elizabeth (Mattes) Mc Devitt.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War 1958-1964. Robert was previously employed by Hackettstown Board Of Education as a Teacher retiring many years ago. Robert was an avid Hunter, Fisherman and Painter. He enjoyed making wine, cooking and spending time with his family. In addition he was a fan of the Fighting Irish, GO Notre Dame!
He is survived by his devoted wife: Joan (O’Connell) Mc Devitt, his loving daughter, Cheryl Ferrigno and husband Phil, his cherished sons, Robert Mc Devitt, Brendan Mc Devitt and wife Monica, John Mc Devitt, a brother, Neil Mc Devitt and wife Patricia, his 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Nicolo, Olivia, Jasmine and husband Anthony, Sam and wife Cristina, Joshua, Keira, Robert Jr., Alex and Martin and great grandchildren, Gabriella, Jaxson, and August.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 10 am – 10:45 am at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 10 at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Fr. Damian Tomiczek officiating. Burial will be in Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Mary, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840 for Mass intentions or to a charity of ones choice in memory of Robert.

February 18, 2024 at 2:13 pmWhen I saw this, I was sad, but my sadness turned into a smile thinking of what a nice teacher he was. Some teachers were scary but not Mr. McDevitt. he was so kind and such a nice guy. RIP knowing you left a good impression on all your students and friends.
