Ward Watson McAllister, age 86, of Hackettstown died Monday, June 7, 2021 at home in Hackettstown. Ward was born December 31, 1934 in New York, NY to the late Ferdinand and Esther Mae (Watson) McAllister. In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Joan (Zimmerman) McAllister in 2008.
Ward earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Physics from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), he continued his education at Stevens Institute of Technology where he earned his Master Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was previously employed as a civilian by Department of the Army, Fort Monmouth, NJ as a Contract Manager. Ward loved ice cream and enjoyed playing chess and bridge.
He is survived by his two sons, Lawrence Hamilton McAllister and wife Frances, Thomas Forrester McAllister and wife Frances, a daughter, Karen Lynn (McAllister) Witty and husband Michael, five grandchildren, Kathryn Ann McAllister, Lauren Michelle Denney and husband Ryan, Michael Joseph McAllister, Julia Elizabeth Witty and James Andrew Witty.
Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10 – 11 am.
Burial will follow at Nassau Knolls Memorial Park, Port Washington, NY at 1 pm with a graveside service.
