McGrory, Douglas January 20, 1969 - January 22, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Stuart McGrory, 55, of Hackettstown, NJ. Born on January 20, 1969, Doug passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, following a brief illness, surrounded by family and friends at Morristown Medical Center.

Doug worked for several years in the IT field, spending much of that time employed by AT&T until forging a second career that brought him much joy, working in the sales industry. Most recently, Doug was employed in sales at Mattress Firm, where each year he took the lead in collecting donations for Toys for Tots. Whether at work, or engaging in life outside of work, Doug embraced all of the opportunities life had to offer making relationships, and fun, a priority along the way which is something his colleagues, family and his dear friends can attest to. Enjoying the beach, visiting casinos, playing tennis and, in his younger years, bowling, were among Doug’s most valued hobbies, but what Doug valued most of all in life were his sons, who miss him with all of their hearts.

Doug is survived by his mother Marsha (Foreman) Parker and his stepfather whom raised him, Paul Parker; his two sons, Jake McGrory (fiancée, Angelina Rizzuto) and Sean McGrory; his three brothers, Stephen (wife Laurie), Michael (wife Tracey) and twin brother, Jeffrey. In addition, Doug is survived by his former wife and friend, Grace McGrory (Calabrese), many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored, and a multitude of dear friends that were like family.

Doug will forever remain in the hearts of those whose many lives he touched.

Memorial visitation hours will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 3-7 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

The funeral service will be held 6:30 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Cochran Funeral Home. Cremation was private.

in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Matheny School, 65 Highland Avenue, Peapack, NJ 07977, https://matheny.org/support-us/donate/, in memory of Douglas McGrory.

I worked with Doug at AT+T and he recently came to mind, hence my search and, sadly, finding this notice that he had passed. We enjoyed lots of lunchtimes and laughs together at the Basking Ridge office; the fond memories last even after all these years. Despite the time and the distance, please accept my heartfelt condolences to your family.
