Milling, Christian Dunlap June 7, 1967 - December 3, 2022

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Christian Dunlap Milling, 53, on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Born June 7, 1969, Christian was the youngest of three children of Wanda Faye Dunlap Milling and the late Richard Grady Milling.

A lover of nature and its creatures great and small, Christian adored fishing, hiking, birding, camping, and hammocking, especially at the Delaware Water Gap. Calling himself a ‘contrarian thinker’, Christian approached life boldly, yet with calculation. He was fascinated with gathering and analyzing information about world economies and their stock markets and could converse with anyone about anything. Christian was a gentle spirit who respected and embraced myriad cultures and their cuisines from all over the world. From his early 20’s, he began travelling to the most remote areas in South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. One of his fondest moments was proposing to the love of his life and best friend, Jennifer, in Tulum, Mexico, at the Mayan ruins overlooking the ocean. Christian will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Christian leaves behind his loving wife, Jennifer (nee Hooley) Milling, of Budd Lake, NJ; mother, Wanda Dunlap Milling of Succasunna, NJ; grandfather, James Warren Dunlap, of Clanton, AL; siblings: Lena Milling [Mahanirananda] of Toms River, NJ, Andrew (Heather) Milling of Andover, NJ, and Tri (Tiana) Nguyen, of Randolph, NJ; parents-in law: Mark (Patty) Hooley, of North Port, FL, and Brenda (Barry) Lighty, of Crawfordsville, IN; nieces and nephews: Andrew Milling, Nathan (Vania) Mahanirananda, Sara Mahanirananda, Katelyn Milling, Linsey (Dennis) D’Agostino, Bailey Emberton, Savannah Bogart, and Alivia Beckley; former sister-in-law, Kimberly (nee Keyes) Milling; brothers-in-law: Anuraksa [Tham] Mahanirananda, of Newark, DE, Chas Mongiovi, of Morth Port, FL, and Tony (Tracy) Hooley of Crawfordsville, IN; Aunt Nancy Dunlap of Clanton, AL, Uncle Jerry Hatfield, of Selma, AL, and cousins Alicia (Andy) White, Christopher (Linsey) Godwin, Kurt Godwin, Allison Hatfield, and Jay Hatfield.

Christian was preceded in death by his father, Richard Grady Milling, of Roxbury, NJ; his maternal grandmother, Sara Nell Dunlap of Clanton, AL, and his paternal grandparents, Carol Pauline and William Joseph Milling I, of Selma, AL; aunts and uncles Barbara and William Joseph Milling II, of Birmingham, AL, and Rosemary and Charles Lancaster, of Selma, AL.

A memorial service to celebrate Christian’s life will be held on December 10, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christian’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association through their webpage at https://www.alz.org or the American Diabetes Association through their webpage at https://www.diabetes.org.
