O’Reilly, Joseph August 19, 1930 - March 10, 2022



Joseph Edgar O’Reilly ,born August 19, 1930, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, passed away on March 10,2022 at age 91.

Mr. O’Reilly was born in Newark, N.J. and resided in Bloomfield, N.J. until 1947 at which time he enlisted in the Army where he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and honorably discharged in 1950. He met his wife Elaine in Lincoln Park, N.J. where they were married on September 1, 1951.

Mr. O’Reilly was a member of the Boonton Township Volunteer Fire Department in Boonton, Township N.J. until 1960 at which time he and his wife Elaine moved to Hackettstown, N.J.

Mr. O’Reilly was employed by Branson Corp for 33 years and attained the position of Vice­President and plant manager. He later was employed by the US Department of Defense Logistic Agency and retired in 1993.

Mr. O’Reilly was a 55 plus year member and Past Master of Musconetcong Lodge #42, Free and Accepted Masons in Budd Lake, NJ

He was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in Englewood, FL and retired after 15 years of service during which time, as Coxswain, he performed search and rescue operations under Coast Guard orders.

From 1993 to the current date Mr. O’Reilly and his wife Elaine divided their residence between Hackettstown, NJ and Englewood, FL where they were members of The Englewood United Methodist Church.

There will be a memorial service Saturday April 9,2022 at 10:00 AM at Panther Valley Ecumenical Church, 1490 County Rd 517 Hackettstown, NJ. Interment will be at the family plot at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  A repast will follow the internment at The Lodge at Mountain Lake, 11 Lakeside Drive East, Belvidere, NJ 07823 from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

Mr. O’Reilly is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elaine C. Wescott O’Reilly; his devoted children: son, Daniel M. O’Reilly and partner Robin Abourizk, daughter, Jan A. O’Reilly, son Thomas P. O’Reilly and wife Lauren, sister, Carol Ann King, cherished grandchildren: Daniel Dexheimer and wife Ellie Bishop, Katherine (Dexheimer) Krauthamer, Sara O’Reilly and partner Erik Heumiller, Ellen O’Reilly and partner Robb Gibbs, Dale (O’Reilly} Yakkioui and husband Otman Yakkioui,and Dustin O’Reilly and wife Hannah. Three great grandchildren: Evan and Hannah Krauthamer, Will Dexheimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
