Ort, Jr. Joseph R. March 13, 1962 - July 28, 2025

Joseph R Ort Jr, passed away on Monday, July 28th, 2025 unexpectedly but peacefully.

Joe was born March 13th, 1962, in Morristown NJ. He graduated from Hackettstown High School.

Joes’ passions were cooking and fishing.  Working at Warren Haven in Oxford, NJ, he enjoyed interacting with the residents there.  Joe enjoyed working with all his coworkers as well.  He spoke highly of everyone he worked with daily.

Joe was a proud member of the Hackettstown Fire Department for many years.

Joe enjoyed mostly his yearly fishing trip to Oswego and Pulaski for salmon fishing.  He met a great group of people to fish with and became friends.  Every year he would bring back real estate brochures as his dream was to retire in upstate NY.   As part of his last wishes he wants his ashes to be spread there which I will have that taken care of for him.

Joe was married to Darlene A Ort (Fisher) for 35 years.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Barbara (Drake) and Joseph R Ort Sr.  Joe was also predeceased by his only brother David L Ort.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and time.

His arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com

So sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I worked with him years back at Warren Haven. Always such a nice guy with a smile on his face, no matter what. Way too young to leave this world. I’m sorry he never got to retire in NY and fish out the end of his days. RIP Joe. Condolences to all who knew him.
