Walter Stanley Pavilonis, 90, of Mansfield Township, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born on November 17, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Anthony and Frances Pavilonis.
Walter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and sharing stories of his life. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations down the shore, to amusement parks, gardens, museums and stealing his wife away to spend time in the Carolinas and Florida. Walt excelled at bowling, archery, and tennis. He was an accomplished golfer and made three lifetime hole in ones. Walt was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating with his family and friends.
Walter was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force as a Technical Staff Sergeant Aircraft and Jet Engine Mechanic with the 84th BMB SQ L, 47th BMB WG and Jet 47th BMB GP, as a Corporal in the Pennsylvania National Guard Battery C 109th Field Artillery Battalion, as a Volunteer Fireman in the Tri-County Fire Department and was a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Walter enjoyed 38 years of employment with M&M Mars where he worked his way through the ranks and retired as a well respected Operations Manager.
Walter is survived by his four daughters, Cynthia (Eugene) Topoleski of Washington, NJ, Carolyn (Scott) Hilpert of Cary, IL, Linda (Christopher) Becker of Easton, PA and Barbara (Dennis) Bisson of Blairstown, NJ, grandchildren, Eugene Topoleski, Annie Topoleski, Walter Liska, Emily Becker, Christopher Becker, Olivia Hilpert and Andrew Hilpert, a cherished niece, Joanne (Ted) Stoudt of Wernersville, PA, grand nieces and nephews.
Walter is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores Pavilonis, his parents, two sisters and six brothers.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ
