Eugene F. Popson, Sr., age 89, of Hackettstown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Eugene was born June 3, 1935 in Throop, PA. He is the son of the late John and Mary (Pronko) Papso. He married Patsy Lantz.
In his younger years Eugene was a Boy Scout who passed his passion on to his son and grandson.
Eugene coached the Little League and Pony Leagues in Hackettstown, New Jersey. He loved his bowling leagues over the years and also watching baseball, football, and Nascar.
Eugene was a devoted husband and loving father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, and friend to many. He worked many years at M&M Mars and retired from there to spend more time with his family.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy (Lantz) Popson. Together the raised two wonderful children, daughter, Kathleen and her late husband Claude Eroh. son, Gene Popson, Jr. and companion Pam Benkin.
Eugene is also blessed with grandson: Austin Popson and fiancé Toni Bacus, granddaughter, Kelsey Popson and companion Mike Lubrano, great granddaughter, Aurora Bacus and great grandson, Oliver Popson, two brothers, Leon Popson and his late wife Betty and Ron Papso and his wife Bonnie and two sisters, Patsy Korbylo and her husband Mike and Barbara White and her late husband Bill. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Mary and John Papso and brother, John Popson.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at Church of The Assumption of The Blessed Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. with Father Roberto Coruna officiating. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ following the Funeral Mass.
