Roger Allen Pratschler, Born February 24, 1941 in Passaic, NJ and live his entire life in New Jersey, moving to Hackettstown in 1972. He graduated from Garfield High School and had his BS in Accounting from Caldwell University. He was predeceased by his parents Francis (Frank) and Kathryn (Sysyn) Pratschler. He is survived by his brother, Howard Pratschler and wife Mary, wife Marianne (Babula), daughter Darlene and her husband Rick Shellhouse and granddaughter Adrena Shellhouse.
He had a varied work career which included Roche Pharmaceuticals and Globe Products. He retired from USI Services as a Cost Accountant in 2016. He played French Horn and competed with the Holy Name Cadets and continued to march when they became Garfield Cadets. After Garfield he continued to march with the Hawthorne Caballeros. He continued to be a fan of all Drum Corps throughout his life, even being the director of the Knowlton Crusaders, He pitched in the Hackettstown Men’s Softball League for the Knights of Columbus and Maderas’ Teams, known as Snowman for his high arc slow pitch. His passion became focused on fencing when daughter Darlene joined the fencing through Hackettstown’s rec program. That began the 45 year journey through all levels of fencing from local to International. He just completed his 39th season as coach with the Hackettstown High School Fencing Teams.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840. Calling hours will be Monday, April 11, 2022 from 4-8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.
