Sad to read about Roland, I was going to call him this month as I am back in NJ for few months. He was always upbeat and truly cared about others. He was kind to animals and people. One example, he noticed a feral cat years ago that could never become an indoor cat, so he made a cathouse to allow the cat to be warm in garage, and well feed. All the wild animals were feed and protected from birds to deer. He was very quick-witted a was able to put a smile on anyone’s face. I worked with him at IBM. Not only was he a lead at IBM, but he was also the subject matter expert (sme) for ID cards for the Horizon BCBSNJ account. He was respected at both IBM and HBCBSNJ not only for his knowledge but the way he was able to make everyone feel that they matter, he was a great listener. He had a lot of energy at work and even when he retired, he would play racquetball with friends. I will miss Roland and his generous caring nature.
