Randall Ray Wanous, “Randy”, of Beattystown, New Jersey passed away June 7th from complications due to liver cancer. He was 65 years old. Randy was recently diagnosed and passed away just days after diagnosis. Randy had a strong faith in The Lord Almighty and lived everyday showing us all God’s grace.
Randy was born on April 22nd, 1955 and was raised in Beattystown. Randy was the head of Buildings and Grounds at Mansfield Elementary School for 38 years. He was lucky enough to see his three daughters and many grandchildren set foot in the school that he maintained for so long. Randy also served as a deacon in his church, Abundant Life Community Church, for countless years as well as serving in youth ministry for 22 years. Randy also served in the Tri-County Fire Department for 47 years and made it all the way to the ranking of Fire Chief. He more recently served as the Chaplin for the Fire Department. Randy was an outstanding member of the community, devoting his time and efforts to helping the less fortunate. Randy served the community as a member of the church ministry and as a member of the fire department. Randy was always there walking with Tri-County in the Hackettstown Memorial Day Parade. Randy also went on a missions trip to Haiti were he used his unmeasurable skills to help build schools. He also took part in many different community outreach programs to serve his fellow man, and to show God’s love.
Randy was the epitome of a family man. There was nothing Randy loved more than to spend time with his family. In his leisure time, Randy was an avid fisherman. He always enjoyed fishing in the river and heading out on a boat with his family and friends. His home always played host to large gatherings, weddings and receptions. There were many a volleyball game and family event in his backyard. Randy’s love for his family and knowledge of buildings and maintenance, motivated him while helping family and friends build and maintain their homes. He also influenced the school system enough, that they honored Randy by having a scholarship in his name for a student to attend a trade school. Randy was a master of many things and he gave his time to so many people. He was a selfless servant of God and he used his skillset to influence many others.
In Randy’s passing, he is preceded by his father Ray and mother Darlene. Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie; his sisters Lezlie Taggart (Ken), Julan Richner (Steve) and Laurie Emter (Keith); his children, Stacey Hawkins (Tom), Michelle Winner (Ryan), and Tiffany McKelvie (Patrick); his grandchildren, Larah, Rylee, Lily, Payton, Emma, Joseph, Jack and James; and many nieces and nephews.
Randy will be greatly missed by everyone who has been in his presence.

Dear Wanous Family My Wife Robin and I were so saddened to hear of Randy’s Passing, He truly was one of those guys that you could enjoy talking to whether about the Fire Service, Maintenance, or our favorite subject Christ. The Mansfield Hackettstown area has lost a true gentleman, and though we know He is Home with Our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ for you all the sting of separation is real and hurts. We know in Christ we will meet again, and ask the our Heavenly FATHER through Christ Our LORD Comfort you as only HE can. GOD comfort and Bless you all Paul & Robin Wallace

Time did not allow to prepare for this. As we paid tribute to him in front of Hackettstown Hospital. Randy called me to offer his thanks. He stated he was very proud to be a part of the fire company. The Wanous family should be even more proud of Randy. Randy always had time for anyone. As all past and current members I reach out to say that we all agree. Tri County Fire Company is heart broken. But we were more proud of him. Randy filled many roles here during his many years of service.

Deeply sorry for the great loss of a loving, caring and helpful man for all who were in his path! It was always enjoyable to see Randy at work because he’d offer those great smiles and ask if I was all right. If there was time, I would ask him questions about the Bible because his knowledge was impeccable. He was enthused, elated and enjoyed being asked question about God. He always made my day no matter what we said to each other, and it made me happier going through the rest of the day. Because of Randy;s compassion as God’s holy man, I feel God took him to avoid the great suffering of painful treatments that would be coming to him, soon. He was a kind and thoughtful man willing to help me any time that I asked. God is happy being with him as much as Randy is with him in a Paradise of Peace and Love.

I am honored to say that Randy was a friend – moving into our first home many years ago, (across the street) we were a young scared couple – in over our heads. Randy and Debbie came over on moving day ready to roll up their sleeves to help us out. I will never forget the light I saw in their faces – that helped us to know we could rest a bit, and somehow we were going to be okay there. Randy would give the shirt off his back to anyone, and I only hope that my life could resemble that in some way. He loved his girls, and he loved Debbie – this was always evident in his life. He also loved his neighbors and I will never forget that. My prayers and my friendship will always be here for Debbie and the girls – always! Tons of love to you during this difficult time. – Mike, Kelly, Michael, Kristen and Madelyn Stark, Blairstown Twp,
