Hazel B. Reiser of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on May 7th, 2024. Previously she maintained homes in Emerald Lakes, Pennsylvania and North Caldwell, New Jersey.

Born on March 16, 1933, in Morris County, New Jersey, the daughter of Henry L. and Charlotte (Salmon) Beaty, Hazel had an idyllic childhood in Hackettstown. Many memories and shenanigans centered around Beaty’s Mill that was owned and operated by her father.  Hazel was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1950.

On September 9th, 1961, Hazel was united in marriage to her hero, William E. Reiser, Jr. in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

A graduate of Douglas College and Medical College of Virginia, Hazel was a registered dietitian who worked as Chief Dietician in several New Jersey hospitals and as WIC Coordinator/Nutritionist for East Orange, New Jersey. Hazel was a proud member of the (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a proud descendant of the Mayflower passengers.

Hazel recently celebrated her 91st birthday and 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving husband William and her devoted son Glenn and fiancée Anne M. Schwab of Mine Hill, New Jersey, sister Charmian Buhrandt of Waukesha, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  Her son Bill and brother Larry predeceased her.

Hazel was a talented seamstress who made her own evening gowns. She cooked gourmet meals for her family and friends. She was also an accomplished baker of mile high pies. She was known to be an avid reader and Sudoku player. She loved to spend her summers on the lake in the Poconos floating on her raft with Bill and the family dog, Kane, by her side. She’ll be dearly missed.

Visitation and service will be Wednesday, May 15, 10 am -12 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Interment at Hackettstown Union Cemetery and lunch with the family to follow.
