Scannelli, Sr, John August 6, 1949 - September 4, 2022

John Albert Scannelli Sr., born August 6th, 1949 and raised in Orange, NJ, has lost his battle with cancer. He fought like a warrior and a hero with courage and optimism. John was one to always consider everyone else’s feelings before his own… even to the very end. John’s love for his family, especially for his grandchildren, is the greatest gift that he leaves behind. Beyond this, John’s greatest strength was his ability to hide his suffering, even when he wasn’t ok. He passed away surrounded by his family at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ on the evening of September 4th at 7:53 p.m.

John resided in Hackettstown, NJ, for the past 22 years. He was a former fire fighter of Irvington, NJ, then owner of J. Scannelli Construction. He is predeceased by his parents Catherine and Albert. John is survived by his wife Lynette Scannelli. His children John Albert Jr., Christina and Kathryn, Laura, Joey, Christie, Blair, Damian and Jessica. He is also survived by the apples of his eye, his ten grandchildren – Arianna, Brittany, Anthony, Ryan, Brooklynn, Bella, Bayleigh, Luke, Berkley and Harper. John is also survived by his brother Albert Scannelli Jr. and his sister-in-law, Patricia and his sister Rosemary.

As a husband, father, grandfather and brother, the expression of your love was always reflected in your eyes, which were both innocent and full of life… even up until the moments before you passed.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to ACPMP (Appendix Caner Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation). https://acpmp.org/get-involved/donate/

A Celebration of Life for John will take place at a later date.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and John’s entire family Lynette. John was a warrior and a friend. I will miss his texts on opening day of archery season this year. He was always the first to tell me to “shoot straight”! May he Rest In Peace. He will be forever remembered!
