Seger, Susan March 20, 1958 - June 4, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of the gorgeous, intelligent, hard working, & loving Susan Seger at the age of 65 on the 4th of June 2023. Born in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, Susan is the daughter of John Barilla and the late Bernadine Barilla. Susan spent most of her childhood growing up in Madison, New Jersey with her brothers John Barilla, Jr. (Martha), Robert Barilla (Susan), the late Michael Barilla, and Dave Barilla (Tammy). In the year of 1987, Susan moved to Hackettstown, NJ where she resided for over 30 years. During her time in Hackettstown she met and married her husband Andrew Seger in 1989 and went on to raise two children, Sara Walborn (Holt) and Stephen Seger (Lillie).

There is no denying that Susan’s identity and impact within the Hackettstown and Warren County community leaves a powerful legacy. Throughout her time in Hackettstown she was a co-owner and founder of the SASCO Insurance Agency for 27 years, a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Assumption Parish, and served in various board positions for the Warren County Chamber of Commerce, the St. Mary’s Home School Association, The Legion of Mary, and the Warren Village Apartments. Additionally, she was a founding board member of the New Jersey Civic Youth Ballet and never missed an opportunity to support her community and local businesses.

Susan was known to be a woman with beautiful style and grace, a woman of strong faith, and a woman of fierce intellect and business expertise. Susan was the best salad maker, a Donaldson’s regular, a lover of spin class, a huge fan of all music, and a truly dedicated and selflessly loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished immensely.

You may leave your expression of sympathy in the guestbook provided or on this page and share it with the family. You may also light a candle in honor of Susan or send a beautiful flower arrangement to the funeral service.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7th 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A mass of christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 8th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary, 305 High St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 with Father David Pekola officiating.

Susan was such an important advocate for the communities she lived in and loved, from Hackettstown business to Catholic education, dance, insurance and beyond.
