Robert “Bob” Christianson Sliker, longtime resident of Hackettstown, passed away peacefully on January 13th at the age of 92. Bob was born and raised in West Caldwell and lived for a short time on Schooley’s Mountain before moving to Hackettstown in 1948 and living at the same address on Willow Grove Street for almost 75 years.
He spent many years with Asplundh Tree Expert Company, followed by a long career with the Washington Township Road Department. In younger years Bob enjoyed working on his cars and going to the stock car races, horse races and flea markets with his buddies. Later, he found interest in vegetable gardening and taking day trips to “Pennsy”. He had many stories to tell going back to his childhood, and would recall events and conversations in great detail.
Bob was the son of Leslie and Gertrude Sliker. He was pre-deceased by brother Jack and sister Jane. He is survived by nephew Charles Petty (wife Molly) and niece Jill Mayer (husband Ray), grand-nieces Bristol Jewell (husband Bob) and Brette Farrelly (husband Phil), and three great grand-nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Cochran Funeral Home from 10:00am – 12:00pm with a service starting at 12:00 pm with Pastor Timothy Drawbaugh officiating. The burial will be immediately after the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street Hackettstown, N.J. 07840. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com

My Wife Robin and I were very saddened to read of your Uncle’s passing, and know that our words will fall short of providing the comfort you all need at this difficult time.
As your Uncle really was more than just an Uncle, we pray our FATHER in Heaven give you all HIS Shoulder to lean on.
GOD Bless You All, in Christ Alone
