Stutz, John Charles April 20, 1970 - April 3, 2025

John Charles Stutz, age 54 of Hackettstown died Thursday April 3, 2025, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ. John was born April 20, 1970, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ to the late Thomas H. and Arline J. (Smith) Stutz.

John was employed by St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville, NJ as a Plant Engineer. John was a long-standing dedicated employee of St. Clare’s just two months shy of 39 years of service.  John had a daily impact on patients and staff that will miss him dearly.

As a child John grew up playing Little League Baseball at Gardner Field in Denville. As an adult he played in a basketball league at Gardner Field as well as softball. John played on a Monday night bowling league at Ledgewood Lanes with his two brothers and father for many years. Not only was John involved in several sports throughout his life he was an avid New York Giants fan and New York Yankees fan.

The happiest day of John’s life was the day his daughter Lanie was born.

Lanie was the pride and joy of John’s life. As Lanie became a teenager, and I’d hear John still say that’s his baby girl I’d quickly remind him she’s not a baby anymore.  John didn’t care in his eyes Lanie would always be his baby.

John is survived by his cherished daughter, Lanie Stutz of Andover, his stepson, Corey Bailey of Andover, his two brothers, Thomas Stutz and wife Susan Friedman of Hackettstown, Edward Stutz and wife Lynne of Leesburg, FL, his sister, Saralee Sabo and husband Charles of Coplay, PA. The mother of his daughter, Jennifer Kegelman of Andover, NJ two nieces and two nephews, Morgan Friedman, Samantha Stutz, Saleen Sabo, and Ryan Sabo. In addition, he is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday April 19, 2025, from 10am-2pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm with Chaplin Mario Spadaro officiating. A private cremation will follow.
