Claudette Collette was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, cousin, friend and filled many positions in her lifetime too numerous to mention. Her life touched many over the span of her time. She was certainly a philanthropist, providing shelter for those who were in need, she housed missionaries, fed the impoverished, took into her home any family member who needed help, even if it meant doing without. She always gave her all. Everyone who came into contact with her, felt her love and compassion.  Claudette’s laughter and smile filled every room, and her warmth was a magnet, conversations with her were always encouraging, filled with hope and blessings. She always said “God is watching over you everything would be all right”. She was consistent, steadfast, strong, forgiving, and very determined. Whatever she set her mind to do she accomplished. In her retirement years she was always on the phone checking up on all she knew, praying with them and encouraging them. Many times, she sent money abroad to those in need, and to ministries, she had a big heart. She was also very funny and the catalyst that kept us all together. She was great at outing fires, and keeping the peace between everyone. Her life personified the word peaceful, it was her daily walk, never kept grudges, very forgiving but was never shy to speak up if she needed to. Mom was also known for her delicious Caribbean cooking, she taught many how to cook, including us her children, she also enjoyed her backyard garden and lovely plants, all of which she shared from. We her children, are now realizing the immense impact she had on countless lives as calls, text, and emails come in. Mom left a legacy, and footprints of kindness on the hearts of many. She always lived by the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Mom enjoyed travelling to Caribbean destinations, family gatherings, and church events, she looked forward to these. Mom had an unwavering faith in her LORD JESUS.

She loved her church family at Arima Evangelical in Trinidad, under the ministry of Rev. Michael Grant and wife Ann Grant, Brooklyn Calvary Church of the Nazarene, under the ministry of Rev. John Peats and wife Ann Peats, and within the last two years of her life Mountain Top Church, under the ministry of Rev. Mathew Jones and wife Diane Jones, and Pastor Susan Graham of Daytona Beach Florida, who prayed over her during her final moments, as she slipped into the Lord’s arms. These ministries were all an integral part of her spiritual growth and meant the world to her, their prayers and support over the years brought into her life many miracles and upheld her through the storms in her life. Mom had her share of struggles but the Lord never failed her. She took pleasure helping outreach ministries, it was her joy to serve the LORD and help build his kingdom, and she encouraged us to do the same. Mom recently did her medical and it was remarkable, we joked about having ten more years to go, so it’s truly sad to lose her at this time. Mom was like an angel among us. Through her life time mom wore many hats, and took on several roles, her main accomplishments included her role as a cosmetologist in the hairdressing field, administrator and receptionist at a private medical practice, then later her passion and love for children led her to open her own preschool which she successfully ran for several years. In later years she migrated to the United States where she pursued a career as a baby nurse, then retired, and took on her full pledge role as a grandmother, taking care of her grandchildren which was a real joy to her.

Mom was a strong family-oriented lady and wouldn’t want us to leave anyone out, she has many family members who lives abroad whom she stayed connected to over the years, she loved each of them dearly, they are: The entire Subar family, Daniel family, and the Cummings Family. Her nephews, Marvin and his daughter Keefa, Damion (deceased), Darryl, Joel, his wife Wendy, and children Shania, Alyssa and Josiah Roopchand. Mikhail Roopchand, Shane Roopchand, Kerwin Roopchand, and kids Akeil, Akmel, and Ziza Roopchand. Asa Roopchand, and wife Kervitra Bally, and kids Nya and Aba. Keston Simon, and Brandon Thornhill and his son Israel.  Her nieces, Calisse Roopchand, Dr. Rennie Roopchand and husband Fil-Guy Santiago, and kids Jose, Felipe and Olivia. Karland Carimbocus, and husband Keith Carimbocus, and children Antonio Trim, Anderson Trim, Cherise Carimbocus, and grands, Israel Trim and Somaya Trim. Charmaine, and husband Jay Phillip and her children, Lilia Mahabir, Cassie Mahabir, Elisha Mahabir, and Faith Phillip. Dr. Opal Roopchand and husband Marlon Griffith, and kids Raphael and Alexandria. Stacey Roxanne Williams, and husband Shearnal, and children, Kezia Bruce, Share’ Williams, Shada Williams, and grand Messiah Joel Boiselle. Dr. Hanna Roopchand and husband Stephen Edwards. Her cousins in the United States, Theodora Degazon, Glen Roopchand and his wife Angela Roopchand and their children Gary Roopchand and his family, and Dwayne Roopchand and his family, and her many other cousins, and family abroad. Her dear friend Ann Parris and many other friends, along with many others exceedingly too numerous to mention spanning her 75 years on earth. She loved each of them dearly. Mom we know you are in the arms of our LORD. We miss and love you dearly. You will forever live in our hearts. May you rest in Peace. Until we meet at the appointed time.  Thank you for all you have done for us and everyone that came into your path. We are eternally grateful to the LORD for you. We love you eternally.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” On behalf of the Arima Evangelical Church, my wife and I wish to convey condolences to the family of our dear departed Sis. Claudette. It has been our pleasure to have known Sis. Claudette from the start of her walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Her faith showed itself in her love, hospitality, faithfulness, and care for her family, friends and acquaintances. Her legacy at Arima will be long and lasting. As we mourn her passing my our memory of her motivate us to keep looking unto Jesus, The Author and Finisher of our faith. Rev. 14:13 tells us “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on; yes, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works follow them.”
