Ruben Guaman Torres, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, in Hackettstown, NJ. He was 77 years old.

Ruben was born October 31, 1946, in Leg Abuga, Azogues, Ecuador where he grew up with his parents and his seven brothers and sisters, Rosa, Segundo, Florencio, Alberto, Zoila, Sergio, and Angel. He later went on to marry and start a family in Leg Abuga while also building a successful brick factory that provided jobs for his community. In 2002, he moved to the United States with his wife, and he lived in Hackettstown, NJ for over 21 years. In that time, Ruben watched his family continue to grow. All his life Ruben was an exemplary father, an entrepreneur, and an active member of his community.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Maria Asunción Abad. Together they raised ten wonderful children, Norma and her husband Nestor, Marcia and her husband Jose, Wilson and his wife Mariana, Diego and his wife Lourdes, Ivan and his wife Elvia, Lilian, Nancy and her husband Kleber, Ruben F. and his wife Lily, Gabriela and her husband Ivan, and Paul and his wife Maggie.

In his family, Ruben was also surrounded by his twenty-five grandchildren, Jenny, Evelyn, David, Jennifer, Melissa, Christopher, Ariel, Bryanna, Byron, Christian, Allison, Emely, Samantha, Diego S, Brittany, Andrew, Matthew, Jeremy, Isabelle, Natasha, Austin, Ian, Jayleen, Evan, and Aiden Ruben.

Ruben was predeceased by his parents Miguel Angel Guaman and Maria Olympia Torres, his daughter Lilian, his sister Rosa, and his brothers Segundo and Alberto.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 from 2pm to 6pm. A mass in memory of Ruben will take place on Monday, February 26^th, 2024, at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, starting at 11am. The burial will take place immediately after the funeral mass.

Rubén nació el 31 de Octubre del 1946 en Leg Abuga, Azogues, Ecuador donde creció con sus padres y sus siete hermanos y hermanas, Rosa, Segundo, Florencio, Alberto, Zoila, Sergio, y Angel. Ruben se casó y formó su familia en Leg Abuga, donde tambien levantó su exitosa fábrica de ladrillos. En el 2002, Rubén se mudo a los Estados Unidos con su esposa donde vivio en Hackettstown, NJ por mas de 21 años. En ese tiempo, su familia siguió creciendo. Toda su vida, Rubén fue un padre ejemplar, un hombre emprendedor, y miembro activo de su comunidad.

Ruben deja atrás a su amada esposa de 52 años de vida matrimonial, Maria Asunción Abad. Juntos tuvieron diez hijos amorosos, Norma y su esposo Nestor, Marcia y su esposo Jose, Wilson y su esposa Mariana, Diego y su esposa Lourdes, Ivan y su esposa Elvia, Lilian, Nancy y su esposo Kleber, Ruben F. y su esposa Lily, Gabriela y su esposo Ivan, y Paul y su esposa Maggie.

En su familia, Ruben también estaba rodeado de sus viente-cinco ñietos, Jenny, Evelyn, David, Jennifer, Melissa, Christopher, Ariel, Bryanna, Byron, Christian, Alison, Emely, Samantha, Diego S, Brittany, Andrew, Matthew, Jeremy, Isabelle, Natasha, Austin, Ian, Jayleen, Evan, and Aiden Ruben.

El velorio será el Domingo, 25 de Febrero, 2024 de 2pm a 6pm en Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Habrá una misa de cuerpo present el Lunes, 26 de Febrero, en Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary a las 11 de la mañana, seguido por los servicios fúnebres en Cochran Funeral Home.
