Gladys VanSolkema, 82, of Long Valley, NJ passed away at Hackettstown Medical Center on June 8, 2021. Born in Newton, NJ, Gladys was the daughter of the late Arthur & Lena Tiesma Lott
Gladys has lived in the Long Valley and Schooley’s Mountain area for most of her adult life and worked for the Washington Township Board of Education (Morris County) as a school bus driver retiring in 2000. Gladys was a very active member of the Drakestown Methodist Church in Mt. Olive Twp. NJ. Her other interest included travel and cruises with her beloved husband, Henry, Quilting and most recently going out for lunch with friends and cousins.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Henry at home, two sons, Henry VanSolkema, Jr. and his wife Carolyn and Art VanSolkema and his wife Karen Three beloved grandchildren, Henry John, Kristin & Jason. She was predeceased by her daughter, June Olmstead.
Viewing hours will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840. Funeral services will take place Friday, June 11, 2021, at 10:00am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ. Henry and Jason will miss her terribly, of course, as well as so many others who called her family & friend. I was Blessed to have her as both! She will watch over us and keep us all straight from afar. I will see you again dear Gladys.
