Wicki, Lewis Thomas December 18, 1948 - June 21, 2023

Lewis Thomas Wicki, 74, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick NJ. Thomas was born on December 18,1948 in Newton, NJ, the beloved son of Virginia, (Hanzel) and Lewis Wicki.

Tom also known as Wick, Kingfish, Schmo Dog and I’m certain a few others nicknames, graduated from Hackettstown High School, Class of 1967. In high school, Thomas was active in sports, obtaining varsity letters in baseball and football, as well as being a member of FFA. Tom’s high school profile summed things up pretty well, “teasing, laughing, a likable guy”. His love and talent in football earned him a scholarship to William Penn College, (Iowa), where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Thomas could always be counted on for a good laugh, a great meal, the current weather report, or an answer on Jeopardy!  Tom loved the outdoors. He always loved hunting and fishing. Tom was a Past President and member of the Cat Hollow Rod & Gun Club. Tom’s true passion was fishing. Tom’s fishing exploits had him traveling around the world to such places as Costa Rica, Guadalupe, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, the Florida Keys and of course Lake Ontario, NY, where he shared many good times and memories, with family and friends by his side. He always enjoyed a good cigar.

Thomas also enjoyed the game of golf and honed his love of the game while also working at Panther Valley C.C. and Harker’s Hollow C.C. Wick was also a dedicated and hard-working guy. Thomas put his degree to work and accepted the full-time position of Physical Education Teacher at the Liberty Township School. Generations of students were taught the values of good sportsmanship, (including his two sisters JoAnn & Diane, who passed through his school). After years of teaching, Thomas went on to work for Hershey’s Ice Cream. During those years, Tom was very active in local softball leagues where many a good times were had with good friends and his athletic talent shined through. Thomas finished his full time working career, at L’Oréal USA, in 2013. Upon retiring to the Jersey Shore, Thomas stayed active and worked part time at Point Lobster in Point Pleasant, NJ. Of course, Tom instantly made the Point Lobster family part of his own.

Thomas is survived by his brother David Wicki, sisters & brother in-laws Susanne Kilcullen (John), JoAnn Elliott (Mark) and Diane Carkhuff (William). His many nieces and nephews, Laura, David Jr. and Lewis Wicki, Matthew Elliott, Ryan, Emily and Will Carkhuff. Along with great nieces and nephews Trevor, Phoebe, Cassidy and Kayla, numerous cousins and of course, his many lifelong friends.

Tom will be missed deeply, but the memories he was able to etch into all of our hearts will remain forever. A celebration of life will be planned to honor his life at a later date.

You, your brother and sister plus your cousin, Nancy, were the first kids I met when we moved to Great Meadows in 1956. We all went to the dance at St. Peter and Paul church that night. My sincere condolences to your siblings and to all others who knew him as a good friend.
