Philip P. Harrington of Long Valley, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born on March 11, 1937, in the Bronx, New York City. Philip was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and began his career with Royal Doulton at age 18. His dedication and strong work ethic guided a career that spanned more than four decades, culminating in his retirement in 2001 as Inventory Control Manager.
Philip took great pride in his Irish heritage and was a devoted member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and was an enthusiastic sports fan, with a particular affection for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Above all, Philip was devoted to his family. The love, steadfast support, and quiet presence he shared with them were among the greatest gifts of his life.
Philip will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, quiet strength, loyalty, gentle sense of humor, and deep devotion to those he loved. His kindness and steady presence left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Beatrice Harrington, and his sister, Mary T. Sapontzis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara Harrington (née Weingetz); his daughter, Melinda; his son-in-law, Ryan Dawson; his sister, Betty Fedro; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in his memory.
