Baduini, Ann Nancy February 10, 1940 - July 3, 2023

Date of Funeral

July 13, 2023

Anne M. Baduini, “Nancy”, died peacefully at her home on July 2, 2023, 8 months after the death of her beloved husband, Louis.  Nancy and Lou were married for 62 years and spent their last years together at their home, Mountain View Farm, in Independence. Nancy is survived by her daughter Carol and husband, Frani Melda, and their children, Lauren Gjolstad, and husband Njal, Michael, and his fiance Amanda Prokop, and Anne Marie; and her son, Christopher and wife Sara Baduini, and their children, Jane, Charlie and Mollie. Nancy will also be greatly mourned by her granddaughters Jolie and Janella Baduini, the loving daughters of her late son, Joseph.  On the night of Nancy’s passing, the sky was clear, and there was a beautiful, nearly full, moon shining brightly over the farm.

Nancy was born in 1940 to Robert and Vera Browne in Montclair, NJ.  She was the youngest of 7 children, and greatly loved all her siblings. Nancy and Lou married 1960, and their family grew to include many nieces and nephews, and it was her joy to be known as Aunt Nancy. Her surviving sister, Patricia Dawson, never once stopped being an older sister, looking out for Nancy; they spent many years visiting and sharing phone calls and lots of laughter. As Nancy declined, Pat never missed an opportunity to reach out, to visit, and to offer prayers and love. Nancy and Lou first lived in Maplewood, where they raised their family.  They were active supporters of the Columbia High School Football Booster club, and enjoyed many great friendships and community gatherings. They later moved to Independence, fulfilling a dream to live on a farm. Throughout her marriage, Nancy worked closely with Lou at the construction business as a bookkeeper and an accountant.  They shared an office with partner desks, and collaborated in all decisions.  In retirement, she enjoyed golfing with new friends, playing cards with old friends and reading. Nancy and Lou loved to travel and they were avid supporters of the Syracuse Mens Lacrosse Program, and enjoyed watching the team throughout the years in person, and on tv.

Nancy also treasured the lifelong friends she made at Immaculate Conception High School, and was honored to be a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for the 1955 Archdiocese of Newark Girls Basketball State Championship team.  Nancy was quick thinking, and could always be counted on to remember important dates and places with ease. However, she will be most remembered as being kind, thoughtful, generous and considerate.  She was loved and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Please join us in a celebration of Nancy’s life.  Visitation will be Thursday, July 13,  from 9-10:00 am at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, and a  Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 13.  at Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Mary, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father Stagg officiating.  Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows following the mass.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 95 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. For those desiring, donations may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association. To the entire Baduini Family,
    I’m John Ryan, Lou and Nancy’s nephew…as a kid I was called Jackie;
    Most of you don’t know me, but I just want to let you all know how sorry I am for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Aunt Nancy and Uncle Lou, and of course my only cousins in the family younger than me! The Baduini home was always so welcoming, and I remember the family dinners there so well and with great affection.
    I wish you all the best during this difficult time and hope that soon, when remembering Aunt Nancy and Uncle Lou, it more often brings a smile rather than tears.
    With love,
    John
