Joseph “Joe” Bertone, 69, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 30, 1956, in Newark, NJ, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (LaFauci) Bertone. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Orazio “Ed” Bertone, and his sister, Rosalie Ashby.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1982. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career in the car sales business. Known for his easygoing nature and warm personality, Joe formed lasting connections with colleagues and customers alike.
A man of many passions, Joe was a devoted New York Mets fan, a talented pianist, and an enthusiastic cook. He enjoyed watching FOX News and could often be found sharing meals, music, and conversation with the people he loved most. Above all, Joe cherished time spent with his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Denese (Collins) Bertone; his daughter, Emily Bertone; and his son, Christian Bertone. He is also survived by his sisters, Carmelina Persson and her husband Roy, and Vita Ostrowski and her husband John; his former spouse, Carol Akers; his sister‑in‑law, Patricia Bertone; his brother‑in‑law, William Ashby; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
A Christian funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Father Grzegorz Podsiadlo. Interment will take place afterward at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.
