Date of Funeral

November 10, 2023

Valeria Bond (Čebron) passed away surrounded by her family on November 4, 2023 at the age of 99. Valeria was born to Anton Čebron and Giuseppina Musina on March 11, 1924. She was raised in the small village of Preserje, Slovenia along with her 5 siblings (Milena, Estera, Sava, Sofia, and Roberto) by her father and loving step-mother, Rahela.

Valeria left home at the age of 15 to begin working in Trieste, Italy. During WWII, she was working as a lady-in-waiting for a British military family when she fell in love with the chauffeur, Laurence A. Bond. Valeria and Laurence married in 1946, moved to London, and 10 years later celebrated the birth of their daughter, Karen. Valeria was happily married to Laurence for 65 years.

Valeria immigrated to the United States with her family in 1958, where she worked as a seamstress in Brooklyn, NY until her retirement. Valeria and her husband loved traveling and visiting family in their later years together. They moved to Clinton, NJ and then Belvidere, NJ to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Valeria is survived by her daughter, Karen Diaz, son-in-law, Joseph Diaz, and two granddaughters, Amanda and spouse Gregory, and Kristina and spouse Santiago.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home with a service beginning at 4:00 pm.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.

Flowers are welcome – she was an avid gardener. If you prefer, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her name (stjude.org/donatetoday).

A memorial mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Belvidere, NJ and funeral service for Valeria’s cremains will be held at a later date. Please contact the family directly for details to attend these additional services.
