John Cappiello, age 79, of Washington, NJ died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at home.  John was born January 28, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Anna Cappiello.   In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by his three brothers, Thomas, Vito and Nicholas Cappiello and a sister, Annie Martorano.

John served proudly in the US Army during Peacetime.  He was employed by US Immigration/Naturalization Service, New York, NY as an Immigration Officer prior to that he was a New York City Police Officer for 20 years and was a member of the New York Policeman’s Benevolent Association.  John enjoyed hunting, most of all he loved spending time with his cherished grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ida (Sammarco) Cappiello, his two daughters, Christine Ordemann and husband Dale, Elisabeth Abbate and husband Jack, his four grandchildren, Kathryn Ordemann, Jack Abbate, Megan Ordemann and husband Jeffrey Lane, Taralyn Ordemann.

The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, September 25 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with Father Timothy Dowling officiating.  Burial will be in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Andover following the service.

Visitation will be Friday, September 24 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home.
