Cussen, Marcia L. April 16, 1954 - June 29, 2024

Marcia Lee (Squire) Cussen passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024 after a long illness. She was surrounded by family and friends in the days leading up to her passing. The loving wife of Timothy C. Cussen, she resided in Great Meadows for 42 happy years in the home they built together with the help of her father, John W. Squire, family and friends.

Born in Dover NJ, she was the daughter of the late, Thomasina H. (Verdi) Squire. She was a 1972 graduate of Netcong High School. Marcy received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Hospital Center of Orange achieving certification as a Medical Technologist in 1976. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She was employed most recently by Morristown Memorial Medical Center as an infection preventionist. She also served for 25 years as a medical technologist for both Hackettstown Regional Medical Center and Dover General Hospital.

Her life revolved around family and friends, her pets, cooking and baking, motorcycles, roller coasters, a love of wildlife and the natural world and music. She won Best of Show in the baking category at the 2007 Warren County Farmers Fair, and many other awards for baking in 2008 and 2009. Her hospitality was limitless, and no one ever left her kitchen hungry. She played the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She devoted much time to Cub Scout Pack 138 in Great Meadows and touched the lives of many.

Marcy is survived by the love of her life, Timothy C. Cussen, her loving sons Patrick Robert of Great Meadows and Erik John of Washington Twp, her daughter in law Erin Feeley Cussen and grandson Rowan also of Washington Twp, her father John W. Squire of Belvidere, her sister and best friend Jacquelyn (Jackie) Swayze of Belvidere. She is also survived by countless beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins and her dog Tucker.

A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marcy’s name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Way, Memphis, TN or to Wounded Warrior Project and Alzheimer’s Assoc. (

    Tim, I was deeply saddened to hear about Marcy’s passing. Her thoughtfulness and those fantastic Italian sandwiches during the Black Bear season will always be fondly remembered. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
