David J. Sheridan October 8, 1940 - September 21, 2020

David Sheridan passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. After several months of declining health, David passed away peacefully with his children and wife by his side.

David was married to his loving wife, Karen Sheridan, for 47 years. David had 11 children Michelle, Rosalie, Patty, Barbara, Roberta, Elizabeth, David, Alyssa, Spencer (preceded him to heaven), Brieanna and Tia; 11 grandchildren Adam, Matthew, Maddie, Blake, Joshua, Kenny, Elizabeth, Aaron, Aidan, Connor and Killian; and five great grandchildren Isis, Odin, Elon, Gracelyn, and Aaliyah.

David served in the United States Air Force until the age of 23. From there he went on to live an amazing life. He treated lakes with his father, tested shark cages, filmed sharks, owned a dive shop, owned a pet shop, taught scuba diving, and opened a sensory deprivation parlor and eventually owned a commercial diving business.

While researching wood in Brazil for his diving business, David was moved by how poor the people were living in the country, especially the children. This motivated him to donate clothing and toys for many years. He and his wife adopted three Brazilian children before going on to assist adoptions that would pair Brazilian children with loving families.

Though David led an extraordinary career, if asked he would say his greatest accomplishment was his family. He loved to be surrounded by family, eating delicious food cooked by his wife, and telling stories of his life. He loved to tell jokes and prank those he loved. His huge heart was felt by all he came across and remembered by all us left behind. David lived 100 lifetimes in his 79 years.

I am honored to have met David when my husband and I were invited to family gatherings – weddings, family reunions, birthday parties, etc. During these times, I saw David going about speaking and teasing attendees; it was evident he loved them and was loved and respected by everyone. I pray for the family and friends during this difficult time.

    Karen,
Dan and I just heard about Dave. We are truly sorry. We send our condolences to you. Also, we miss having you as our neighbor. It is not the same anymore. Noreen and Ed also wanted me to tell you that they are also sorry to hear about Dave. Noreen said they aren’t online so she wanted me to send you their condolences. She told me that she fondly remembers Dave coming over to their house every year with Christmas cookies. She and Ed also miss having you in the neighborhood. Please let me know if there is anything you may need. I would have sent a card but I do not have your new address. Love, Dan and Bridget
