Edward K. Ernstrom of Towaco, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026 at the age of 83.  Raised in Nutley, NJ, he was the son of the late Einar and Elsie Ernstrom.  He was married to Pam (Gwilliam) Ernstrom for 60 years.  They had two daughters, Kristina and her husband Brain of Acton, Massachusetts and Robin and her husband Tim of Alexandria, Virginia.  He is also survived by his brother Errol of Budd Lake and his grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, and Natalie.

Mr. Ernstrom graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and later transferred his commission to the Untied States Army Reserve.  He retired from the Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel.  He had a civilian career as an engineer at Picatinny Arsenal where he worked for many years.

He was a member of the Vasa Order of America, Arlington Lodge #62 for 60 years.  He was an avid lover of construction projects and built two family homes, one on his New Hampshire tree farm and the other in New Jersey.

Viewing will be at the First Reformed Church, 9 Church Lane in Montville, NJ on Friday May 22, 2026, from 11:00am – 12:00pm, with a service at 12:00pm.  Burial will be at the Church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
