John P. Hague March 25, 1965 - January 31, 2021

John Patrick Hague
March 25, 1965 – January 31, 2021

John Patrick Hague , 55, of Mansfield Township, died January 31, after a short illness.

An employee at Blue Ridge Lumber in Hackettstown, John was also a 38- year member of the Tri – County Fire Company, eventually working his way up to Fire Chief and President of the Fire
Company, a title he still proudly held at the time of his death.

John is survived by his two sons, John Robert (Hailey) and Daniel Jacob, his mother Kathleen (Neilan) Hague, his sister Jacqueline, his uncle James (Mary Costello) and his best friend John
Doug Ort (Michelle).

John’s father, John Francis, infant son Patrick John and mentor Philip Hazen predeceased John And welcomed John when he arrived at the Gates of Heaven.

Born in Newark and an early resident of East Orange, John moved with his parents Jack and Kathy to Mansfield Township in 1966, where he quickly became entrenched in Warren County
Life.

As a youngster, John was already working at nearby Hazen’s Farm and was an award – winning member of the Future Farmers of America at Warren Hills Regional High School, where John was a 1983 graduate.

John was so totally enamored with all aspects of farming — raising cows, baling hay, growing corn and soy were all foundations of John’s young life into adulthood, with Phil Hazen teaching
John every little nuance of farming life.

John’s other passion was helping others. From the minute he was old enough to join, he was a Member of the Mansfield Township Rescue Squad, eventually becoming an EMT and lifetime
Member.

For nearly 40 years, John was a dedicated volunteer member of Tri – County Fire Company, which is headquartered in Mansfield. He worked up the officer rank, going from Fair Chairman
to his lifetime goal of Chief. His dedication to the Fire Company was so intense that he encouraged both of his sons to become members of the company as well, serving their community well.

John was also a graduate of Warren County Tech Nursing School with an NJLPN license in 1993. He worked at Heath Village and the office of Emergency Management for Warren County. He took over the Backstage Restaurant when his father died and then joined Home Depot. His employment at Blue Ridge Lumber in Hackettstown was his recent success as John could sell anything. He scored the highest sales test score at his father’s insurance agency and reach Diamond in sales at Home Depot. He was proud of his contractor relationships and sales achievements.

Besides his personal achievements, John’s proudest moments came from his two sons, who meant everything to him. John was so proud when each one of them chose to join him as
Members of the Tri- County Fire Company. The other favorite events for John were watching his oldest son graduate from Full Sail University and then visiting his youngest at the United States Army’s Fort Lewis.

Daniel kept a long family tradition of military service alive, joining his deceased great grandfather, PFC John J. Hague of the U.S. Army and his grandfather, Jack, who left the U.S. Marine Corps as a decorated corporal.

My husband and I moved to Mansfield 24 years ago. Not knowing where we actually moved to and having no family or friends close by we stumbled across John at the little bar. He was our first friend in Mansfield and introduced us to all the great people in town. He was larger than life and always entertained when we ran into him. He will definitely be missed. Our prayers go out to all his family and friends.

The Hague Family, Deeply sorry for the great loss, John, your Son, your Brother and your Father. I will always remember John in my Third Grade Class as will his classmates at that time. John always tried to help and please me and he was well liked by the class. John was kind, funny, serious and needed praise and encouragement. God Bless His Family! Why do students die before their teachers? Deeply Saddened! that I heard weeks later of his death.
    Sincerely,
    Pat Moore
