On the morning of 23 January 2020, John “Yosh” P. Klimas, Sr., passed away at the age of 85, in Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ. Born to the late John and Genevieve (Trzeciakiewicz) Klimas on 21 December 1934, John had been a life-resident of Great Meadows, NJ.
He was the owner/operator of Klimas Greenhouse, Great Meadows, NJ and a farmer “Mucker”. He was an avid hunter and a man who did things “his way”, he was a former member of the Green Valley Gun Club, some may agree he was a local outlaw and legend. In his youth, he worked in his family’s butcher shop, across from Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Great Meadows. He married on 20 September 1958 and had three children. John was a loving father who was proud of his adored grandchildren and great granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife: Rosemarie (Rygiel) Klimas , a son, John P. Klimas, Jr. and his wife Tracy, 2 daughters, Donna M. Ervey and husband Kevin W., Sr. and Debra J. Ervey and husband Timothy J., he also has seven grandchildren, Cassie, Kevin Jr., Jessie, Kimmie, Timmie, John III and Gretchen, and his great granddaughter, Emily.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, January 30 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Rev. Anthony Pami officiating. Burial will follow in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 29 from 4 – 8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
