Dorothy “Joan“ Mannon passed away on September 20, 2024, in Bethlehem Pa. at the age of 91.

Joan was born on March 8,1933 to Henry Appleby and Priscilla (Hurworth) Appleby in Stewartsville, NJ. Joan attended Hackettstown High School and Churchman’s Business School. She married William “Bill” Mannon and together they farmed the Mannon Farm in The Butler Park area of Mansfield Township. Joan was a Real Estate agent working with her husband, Bill at Banks E Moyer Century 21, Full Financial Reality, Weichert, Chippendale, Burgdorff, and Duke ERA. Joan served for 60 years on the election board for Mansfield Township. Her real love was driving school bus which she did for over 50 years for Budd Allen, Budd Kreps, and Snyder Bus Service. Joan was a member of Butler Park Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Anderson Mothers Club. Joan was a charter member of the Mansfield Emergency Squad.

Joan is survived by her four children, son James Mannon and his wife Deborah, son Robert Mannon, daughter Patricia Mannon wife Michelle Gardner, daughter Diane Mannon

Joan was also blessed with five grandchildren, granddaughter Kaitlyn Mannon, grandson Christian Mannon, grandson Justin Mannon Walker, granddaughter Cathern Collier Smith and her husband, Caleb Smith, granddaughter Natoli Collier Harding and her husband Noah Harding, and one great, grandson Enoch Harding. Three step grandchildren, Erica, Shaun, and Jesse Gardner, step great granddaughter Rylan Gardner, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Joan was predeceased by her husband William J. Mannon, sister Mary Appleby, brother Henry Appleby, brother Thomas Appleby, brother Stanley Appleby, brother Aurthur Appleby.

Visitation will be on Wednesday 25 September 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street Hackettstown, NJ 07840

A service will be held at The Cochran Funeral Home on 26 September 2024 at 10:00 AM, interment will follow at the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

    We are so saddened to the passing of Mrs. Mannon. She was our children’s bus driver for years and she was the best. She would give out $2 bills for the holidays, and was so on top of things on the bus. We never had to worry about our girls when she was their driver. May she rest In peace.

    Just known Joan for a short period of time, but she is an epitome of a good and caring school bus driver. It was reflected on her long and dedicated service to the community. transporting children to and from their home and school. May she rest in peace.
